SINGAPORE – Three lanes in the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) tunnel were blocked on the afternoon of July 21, after a cement truck crashed into a wall there.
In a video posted on the Roads.sg Facebook page on the evening of July 21, the left side of the truck’s cabin is seen slightly raised and lodged in the side of the tunnel, and the tunnel’s light-coloured wall panels near the vehicle appear to be missing.
Two tow trucks can be seen in the video, as well as several other vehicles, including a police car and a Land Transport Authority motorcycle.
Two uniformed officers are also seen speaking to a group of workers by the road shoulder.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the police were alerted to the accident on the MCE towards Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, near the East Coast Parkway exit, at about 5.30pm.
SCDF assessed a person for minor injuries, but the person declined to be taken to hospital.
The truck is believed to have skidded, the police said.
A 43-year-old male truck driver is assisting with investigations. Police investigations are ongoing.
