Celebrate the final month of the year in a meaningful way - by giving your time or money to help the less privileged.

On Dec 3, a new day of giving will be launched called GivingTuesdaySG. The movement started in the United States last year and so far, at least three other countries - Australia, Canada and Singapore - have joined the movement. In Singapore, it is led by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC).

A total of 30 corporations and non-profit organisations including Singapore Press Holdings and Singapore Kindness Movement are founding partners of the campaign. Each of the organisations will come up with their own initiatives to get staff to give.

NVPC chief executive Laurence Lien said: "We hope through national initiatives like this, (we can) make giving more of a way of life in Singapore." Those who wish to participate can visit the Giving Tuesday website.
