The Singapore Civil Defence Force said a male taxi driver was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital conscious.

Police said a male car driver was arrested for suspected drink driving. Investigations are ongoing.

In a video posted on the Facebook page of road safety interest group Roads.sg, a dark coloured car was seen driving along the rightmost lane, when it suddenly mounted the kerb and crashed into a tree.

The impact sent debris and dust flying, and the car bounced to a stop facing sideways, blocking two of three lanes.

Photos of the aftermath showed that the impact had actually sent the engine flying over to the other side of the road, and the front of the car was totally smashed.
