SINGAPORE - A car caught fire along Clementi Road on Friday (June 2) afternoon, but no one was injured.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at 1.07pm.

The blackened remains of a grey Mitsubishi car was seen at the junction of Clementi Road and Clementi Avenue 2.

It is understood that the car collided with a tipper truck before bursting into flames.

Freelance photographer Debby Chua, 45, was driving along Clementi Road when she saw the thick smoke fumes at the accident scene.

"I was shocked when I saw the thick black smoke as I thought there could have been a fire from a nearby school or residential area as the smoke kept rising into the air," she said. "I'm relieved to hear that no one was injured in the accident."

The fire involved the engine compartment of the car, and was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets.

No one was injured.

SCDF sent one fire bike and two fire engines to the scene.
