SINGAPORE - Mr Oh Chong Fah, 49, sat atop a Leopard 2SG battletank with his two daughters Oh Jun Ru, 8, and Oh Zhen Qi, 4, in an open field next to Westgate mall in Jurong East.

The tank showcase was part of celebrations to mark 50 years of National Service in Singapore. Children also had fun playing a shooting game on the Bionix armoured fighting vehicles of the army.

As part of this year's NS50 celebrations, CapitaLand Hope Foundation donated $300,000 to benefit six children's charities under President's Challenge 2017.

The six charities are: CampusImpact, Dyslexia Association of Singapore, Focus on the Family Singapore, Morning Star Community Services, New Life Community Services, and TOUCH Community Services.

Initiated by former president S R Nathan in 2000, the President's Challenge is an annual community outreach and fund-raising campaign for beneficiaries selected by the President's Office.
