Burglar arrested for stealing office safe containing $30,000 in cash

Police have arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of breaking into an office and stealing a safe.

The burglary was reported at about 9am on Thursday after an office along Foch Road in Lavender was broken into and a safe containing some $30,000 in cash was stolen from the premises.

Officers from Central Police Division, with the aid of CCTV recordings, eventually managed to track down the suspect and arrested him along Tanglin Road on Friday at about 4am. The suspect led police officers to a carpark along Sungei Road where a broken safe was seized. More than $6,000 of cash was recovered from him.

Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniel Tan advised retail and commercial operators to guard against burglaries by installing strong locks and grills, alarm systems and CCTV cameras.
