Demand from singles for Sengkang flats continued strong on Monday - the last day for applications for the Build-To-Order application exercise.

There are 71.3 singles applying for each Sengkang flat on offer, according to the latest Housing Board (HDB) figures on Monday morning. HDB also received nearly 34 applications for every two-room flat in Yishun.

This is the first time singles aged 35 and over can apply for new HDB flats. Up to 30 per cent of the 519 two-room units on offer in Sengkang and Yishun are reserved for them.

Overall figures show 50 applications from singles for every two-room flat. The exercise, which started on July 30, closes at midnight on Monday.
