The wildly popular Black Knights will be back to thrill crowds with their heart-stopping aerobatics at next year's Singapore Airshow.

The new Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) aerial display team will use six F-16C Fighting Falcons to perform the precision aerial stunts at the six-day airshow, which starts on Feb 11, 2014.

The planes will also get a new coat of paint. They will retain the traditional red and white colours but will incorporate Singapore's national symbols of the crescent moon and five stars.

Chief of Air Force Hoo Cher Mou unveiled the Black Knights team on Friday at the Tengah Airbase. He said the aerial display team are "a source of great pride for a small nation like ours".

"The team has always thrilled spectators with its breath-taking performances. I am confident that the Black Knights will continue with this tradition and do the RSAF proud."

Major-General Hoo did not reveal who the new team members are.

The Defence Ministry said in a statement that the six-man team will start preparing for the airshow from this month.
