Bigger and brighter River Hongbao this year

River Hongbao 2013 looks set to surpass the scale of last year's celebrations, with more lanterns and food stalls.

The nine day festival, which runs from Feb 8 to 16 at The Float @ Marina Bay, will have more than 1,200 lanterns, up from about 1,000 last year. Visitors can also grab a bite from the 45 food stalls selling local and Guangdong delicacies like grilled quail eggs. There were 40 stalls last year.

There will also be daily performances featuring entertainers from China and Taiwan, as well as amusement rides for children.

The festival, which is in its 27th year, is organised by the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Singapore Tourism Board and People's Association. It is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors a day and admission is free.
