When the National Environment Agency revealed plans to build a facility for the scattering of human ashes on the Tanah Merah coastline last month, the main objection raised was about the proposed site.

Up to five water sports centres, including the National Sailing Centre, are located nearby. Concerns have been raised at the possibility of swimming among - or even ingesting - human remains.
