SINGAPORE - More than 15,000 people are expected to attend NTUC’s first large-scale National Day event in almost a decade, at the Promontory @ Marina Bay.
The NTUC x NDP Bay Celebrations – to be held on Aug 3 and 9 – is part of the extended National Day Parade (NDP) 2024 celebrations. NDP 2024 will be held at the Padang and, for the first time, be extended to the Promontory.
Balloting for tickets to the event is open from June 24 to July 8, noon. Singaporeans and permanent residents may apply at www.ndpbaycelebrations.sg
Each person can ballot for only two tickets.
The event, co-organised by the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the National Day Parade executive committee (NDP Exco), will see 7,500 people each night watch a live broadcast of the NDP or the preview on Aug 3, as well as live music performances by young local talents before and after the broadcast.
The celebrations will take place from 3pm to 10pm.
It was earlier reported that the NDP 2024 event space will be expanded to the Promontory area – an open space near Marina Bay Financial Centre.
NDP highlights extended to the NTUC event area include the state flag flypast, “Salute to the Nation” bomb burst by the Republic of Singapore Air Force, presidential gun salute sail-past, the Total Defence 40
All attendees will receive an NDP pack each.
Performers at these celebrations will include singer Iman Fandi, singer-songwriter Shye, and other local artistes such as Yung Raja, 53A, DJ Red, ShiLi and Adi, The Jazzlings, and the a cappella group [ Placeholder ].
Shye, The Jazzlings and DJ Red will also be performing their own rendition of the iconic NDP song Home, originally sung by Kit Chan.
Mr Rhyhan Asda, who is part of The Jazzlings, said that this would be his first time performing on such a big stage in Singapore.
“For me, this performance is a way for me to show appreciation for the country I’ve called home my whole life,” the 27-year-old said. “I hope that through my performance, the audience can think about what Singapore means to them and the memories they’ve made here that make Singapore a place they call home.”

Attendees will be able to visit interactive installations where they can write their wishes and aspirations for Singapore on cards, snap pictures at photo booths and take part in activities that promote NTUC’s care movement, which encourages youth to support one another and build a strong community.
The NDP Bay Celebrations were first held at the Padang in 2007, and had nine editions till 2015.
In response to The Straits Times’ query on why celebrations had ceased for almost 10 years, NTUC said that the activities it organises vary over time. “This year, we have the opportunity to co-organise the Bay Celebrations with NDP Exco as part of the official NDP and want to lend support to our youth in our celebrations,” it added.
Ms Natasha Choy, executive secretary of Young NTUC and co-chairperson of the NTUC Bay Celebrations organising committee, said that the celebrations fall in line with the NDP 2024 theme Together, As One United People.
“NTUC is celebrating and empowering our youth by creating opportunities that bring them and the nation together,” she said.
Lieutenant-Colonel Roy Chew, co-chairman of Bay Celebrations Committee, NDP Exco, said: “The NDP Exco is delighted with the series of ground-up initiatives and co-creation that allows more Singaporeans to participate in the National Day celebrations.
“These efforts highlight the spirit of togetherness and unity in line with this year’s NDP 2024 theme.”
