SINGAPORE - Nearly a hundred people went botak earlier on Friday afternoon - all for a good cause.
Staff, customers and partners of StarHub shaved their heads at the telco's Paya Lebar headquarters, raising more than $110,000 for the Children Cancer Foundation's Hair for Hope initiative. Ten of the participants were women.
The Hair for Hope initiative aims to spread awareness of childhood cancer. Participants shave their heads to show solidarity for patients and to raise funds to help the affected children and their families.
Among was StarHub senior vice president Timothy Goodchild, who said the initiative was for "a very worthy cause".
"We can all play a part in helping the children affected by cancer, whether it is donating funds or making a bald statement and raising awareness," he added.
It is the fourth consecutive year that StarHub has supported Hair for Hope, and the second year that it has invited partners and customers to participate in the initiative.
Those who wish to support the initiative can make an online donation at: hairforhope.org.sg/satelliteProfile/83.
