Workers in the local aviation industry raised more than $200,000 for the needy during Saturday's Aviation Run.

Some 2,000 runners were flagged off by guest of honour Senior Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo at the Changi Exhibition Centre earlier in the morning.

The crowd also set the record for the largest human formation of an airplane in the Singapore Book of Records.

The run is spearheaded by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and funds raised for the Community Chest will support the beneficiaries of its 83 charities.
