Artiste gets jail, fine and ban for drink driving and inconsiderate driving

A full-time artiste was sentenced to a week's jail and fined a total of $8,000 on Thursday for drink driving and inconsiderate driving . Chin Chee Yin, 49, was also banned from driving for four years.

He admitted to driving along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 last Nov 6 when the alcohol level in his breathe was 69mcg, which was almost twice the legal limit. He also admitted to driving without reasonable consideration at about 1am that day when he failed to keep a proper lookout ahead and grazed a stationary motorcycle on the left side of the road.

A traffic court heard that after the accident, a traffic cop was despatched to the scene and he found Chin reeking of alcohol. Chin failed the breathalyzer test and was arrested for drink driving.

He had a drink driving conviction in 2010. Chin, a father of two, could have been fined up to $10,000 and jailed for up to 12 months for drink driving. For inconsiderate driving, the maximum penalty is a $1,000 fine and six months' jail.
