Registrations for this year's Association of Muslim Professionals' (AMP) Micro Business Programme will be extended till March 2, from the original end date of Feb 22.
Launched in 2005, the programme helps individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds develop entrepreneurial skills as well as technical skills in IT. Grants are also awarded to participants with sustainable home business models.
The six-month-long programme is open to Singaporeans or permanent residents between the ages of 21 and 55 with a combined household monthly income of not more than $3,500. Interested applicants can apply at AMP offices at Pasir Ris and Jurong Point or online at www.amp.org.sg
Participants can choose to undergo training in the areas of food, beauty and wellness, sewing, or wedding crafts and accessories but must possess basic skills in the chosen area.
AMP said some 35 applications had been received so far. Last year's intake saw 37 applicants.
An application fee of $200 applies but the amount will be refunded to those not selected for the programme.
