SINGAPORE - The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will be conducting an alternate runway exercise, codenamed Exercise Torrent, at Lim Chu Kang Road from Nov 10 to 14.

The exercise will transform Lim Chu Kang Road into an alternate runway to allow RSAF aircraft to land and take off from this stretch of road.

This year, it will feature the RSAF's fighter aircraft conducting simultaneous launch and recovery operations from Lim Chu Kang Road and the Tengah Air Base runway.

In a statement on Thursday (Nov 3), the Defence Ministry (Mindef) said Exercise Torrent provides the air force with the opportunity to "enhance its operational readiness and hone its ability to deliver air power from our public roads".

Mindef has advised the public to take note of the road closures in the surrounding areas. Affected roads include Lim Chu Kang Road and Old Lim Chu Kang Road.

It has also advised the public to stay away from the exercise area for safety reasons.
