After the last firework fizzled out on the memorable visual spectacle that was Singapore's 53rd birthday bash on Thursday, an army of cleaners descended on the Marina Bay floating platform and cleared it of plastic bottles and other litter before daybreak.

The Straits Times spent the weekend in the area to check out the activities that go on after the National Day Parade, which members of the public may not notice or be aware of.
