It is one of the best wines produced by his uncle's boutique winery and he decided to take the limited stock off the market to keep in his private collection.

But come March 4, Mr Giacomo Pallesi, 30, owner of Angra Wine & Spirits, will sell 60 bottles - half of what he has left - to The Straits Times readers at the first edition of the ST Wine Fair at The St Regis Singapore.

The Cabernet Franc Atlante 2011 produced by Paolo e Noemia d'Amico in Umbria, central Italy, is rated RP91 - an indication of exceptional quality - by wine authority Robert Parker Wine Advocate (RPWA).

Mr Pallesi said: "I am very passionate about sharing my Italian traditions. My company takes pride in capturing the wine culture from harvesting the grapes to the final bottled experience.

"I look forward to sharing the 2011 Atlante's story with ST readers at the fair."

The ST Wine Fair, organised by the newspaper in association with RPWA, will showcase a curated selection of more than 100 wines, both Old World and New World, all RP-rated and available for tasting.

A large number of the wines are rated RP90 to RP96.

Wines rated RP90 to RP95 are terrific and outstanding, and those rated RP96 to RP100 are extraordinary. Visitors can enjoy discounts and exclusive promotions for exquisite wines at the fair.

Entry to the fair is priced at $20 per person.

The entry fee can be redeemed for a $20 discount off any ST Wine Club Gold or Platinum subscription package purchased at the event.

The ST Wine Club is a premium wine club launched last December by the newspaper in collaboration with RPWA.

Subscribers get a selection of two to four bottles of wine delivered to them every month.

These specially selected wines are highly rated, scoring RP90 points and above.

Mr Warren Fernandez, The Straits Times' editor and editor-in-chief of Singapore Press Holdings' English, Malay and Tamil Media Group, said the response to the ST Wine Club has been very good.

"So, together with our friends from Robert Parker Wine Advocate, we thought it would be a good idea to organise an event that wine lovers would enjoy," he added.

"We're happy that ST readers will be able to come down and enjoy some fine wines at great prices, some to savour right away and others to keep for a special occasion down the road."

Participating wine merchants at the fair include Asia Wine Network, Grand Vin, Grape Palate, Crystal Wines, Le Vigne and Wein & Vin.

Mr Patrick Sauze, communications director at RPWA, said the fair presents a unique opportunity for wine explorers to discover the product in a very open format that allows them to taste and compare a curated selection of wines from different parts of the world.

He added: "Some are classics which wine experts will recognise, and there will also be off the beaten track wines.

"Many of the wines in the $40 to $80 price bracket offer great value for money."
