Leaders of religious groups representing multiple faiths observing a minute of silence at the Harmony Centre in Bishan yesterday.

They were doing this for victims of the violence in Myanmar's Rakhine State and the earthquake that struck Aceh in Indonesia last week.

The leaders also collectively raised donations from their communities totalling $21,000.

The money will be contributed to a fund-raising drive by the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Mosque Committee that will end next Monday. Half of the total collected will be given to each cause.

The Muslim, Buddhist, Taoist, Catholic, Hindu, Protestant and Baha'i faiths were represented yesterday.

Those who wish to donate after next Monday for the earthquake victims can do so via Mercy Relief's "Aid for Aceh" appeal on www.giving.sg
