92 suspected drug offenders arrested in three-day islandwide drug bust

A three-day islandwide drug bust saw the Central Narcotics Bureau seizing about 1.7 kg of cannabis, 1.3kg of heroin and 330 Erimin-5 tablets among other drugs, worth more than $214,000.

The three-day operation that started on June 10 led to the arrest of 92 suspected drug offenders across areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Merah and Circuit Road.

On Wednesday, officers followed a suspected drug trafficker and drug courier in Jalan Besar. Both men were arrested and one of them, a 45-year-old Singaporean was escorted back to his hotel room, where police found a small amount of "Ice", a digital weighing scale, empty plastic sachets and drugtaking utensils. The other man, a 21-year-old Malaysian, who was riding a motorcycle, had in his haversack three bundles wrapped in tape.

Two of the bundles were found to contain about 912g of heroin and one bundle was found to have about 514g of cannabis. The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $113,000. Both men are being investigated for drug trafficking.

Part of the operations also included a raid on Tuesday of a Housing Block unit at Bukit Purmei, which was believed to be a store for the drugs.

A 27-year-old male Singaporean was arrested and CNB officers recovered about 1.1 kg of cannabis, 42g of 'Ice' and 62 "Ecstasy" tablets and various drug paraphernalia. The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $48,000.

Investigations are ongoing.
