85 suspected drug offenders arrested in 4-day CNB operation

SINGAPORE - A total of 85 suspected drug traffickers and abusers were arrested in a four-day operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

CNB also seized about 196g of heroin, 47g of Ice and other suspected controlled drugs in the raids across Singapore from Monday (Aug 15) to Friday (Aug 19) morning.

The operation, supported by the Singapore Police Force, covered Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Bukit Batok, Jurong, Woodlands and Yishun.

In one of the raids at Havelock, 138g of heroin was found, and five suspected offenders were nabbed.

On Tuesday afternoon, CNB officers arrested a 55-year-old Singaporean man suspected of drug trafficking and a 44-year-old suspected to be a drug abuser.

A small amount of Ice was recovered from the 55-year-old.

In a raid on the hideout of the suspected trafficker, which was also in Havelock, officersrecovered about 138g of heroin.

"Numerous empty plastic straws, plastic sachets and a digital weighing scale were also recovered," CNB said.

A 51-year-old man, possibly an associate of the 55-year-old, was arrested within the unit. Two other suspected drug abusers, a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman , were also arrested shortly after the raid at the hideout.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the arrested persons are ongoing.
