About 840,000 households in Housing Board flats will receive the next instalment of the GST Voucher- Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebate this month to offset their utilities bills.
The rebate, distributed every quarter, is one of three components of the permanent GST Voucher scheme, which aims to help lower- income Singaporeans.
In total, those living in one- and two-room HDB flats are able to offset about three to four months of utilities bills on average each year, using the U-Save rebate. They will receive $65 this month.
Those living in three- and four-room HDB flats are able to offset about one to two months of utilities bills on average.
Households in three-room flats will receive $60 this month and those in four-room flats, $55.
Those in five-room flats will receive $50 and those in executive or multi-generation flats, $45.
The total annual rebate thus ranges from $180 for those in executive or multi-generation flats, to $260 for those in one- or two-room flats.
Households with members who own more than one property are not eligible.
The U-Save rebate is expected to cost $190 million annually.
