SINGAPORE - An 84-year-old woman died in hospital after she was allegedly hit by a car at a Housing Board estate in Chua Chu Kang on Thursday (Sept 21).

The police told The Straits Times on Friday that they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian along the carpark driveway of Block 807B, Chua Chu Kang Avenue 1, at 4.18pm on Thursday.

The ST understands that the vehicle was about to turn left when it collided with the woman.

Eyewitnesses told Shin Min Daily News that the woman was bleeding profusely from her nose, and passers-by tried to help.

The woman was taken unconscious to the National University Hospital with head injuries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force told ST.

She later died in hospital, police said. The 40-year-old male car driver is currently assisting with police investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Last month, a 68-year-old woman died in hospital after she was hit by a taxi along Orchard Road.

That same month, 70-year-old Mariam Atom was pronounced dead by paramedics on the scene after she was trapped under a bus in Ang Mo Kio.

Earlier in August, a 75-year-old man hit by a car while crossing a road in Tampines died in hospital the next day.
