SINGAPORE - Eight people were taken to hospital after a traffic pile-up involving 14 vehicles along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on the night of Feb 21.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident, which took place along the PIE towards Changi after the Jalan Eunos exit, at around 9.50pm.

Eleven cars, two taxis and one motorcycle were involved in the collision, said the police.

Seven people were taken to Changi General Hospital, while one person was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, said SCDF.

A video of the aftermath of the accident posted on Facebook shows the vehicles on the right-most lane of the expressway and two SCDF ambulances at the site.

The car at the very back of the pile-up, as shown in the video, appears to have sustained the most damage and is seen with its bonnet crumpled, while a red car in the collision seems to have rammed into the road divider.

Police investigations are ongoing.
