70-year-old pedestrian hit by motorcycle after attempting to jaywalk

SINGAPORE - A 70-year-old pedestrian was sent to the hospital after he was hit by a motorcycle while jaywalking in Bendemeer Road on Saturday (June 16).

Police said they were alerted to an accident involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian in Bendemeer Road towards Jalan Besar at 1.50pm.

The pedestrian was conscious when sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, said the police spokesman.

In a video uploaded on road safety page Roads.sg, the pedestrian was sent flying after he was hit by the motorcycle while attempting to jaywalk.

The motorcyclist then stopped, and rushed to help the pedestrian. The driver of a car that stopped in front of the pedestrian also alighted from his vehicle to assist the injured man.

Police investigations are ongoing.
