SINGAPORE – About 50 people were evacuated from a Housing Board block in Tampines after a fire broke out on the morning of Dec 9.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at a unit on the 13th floor of Block 889A Tampines Street 81 at about 6.40am.
When officers arrived, black smoke was emitting from the unit, the SCDF said in a Facebook post on Dec 9.
Two of the flat’s residents had left the unit before SCDF arrived and were subsequently checked by a paramedic for smoke inhalation. They declined to be taken to hospital.
The fire involved the contents of a bedroom, SCDF said, adding that the cause is under investigation.
