327 schools receive award for making the effort to go green

More than 300 schools were awarded the School Green Awards this year, up from 261 in 2012.

Organised by the Singapore Environment Council, the awards are given to schools who have made an effort to engage their students on environmental issues in areas like waste reduction, recycling, and water management.

This is the first year that the awards have been given to pre-schools and special education schools.

One of this year's winners is the MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School for special needs students, which has a garden which students care for as part of its environmental learning programme.
