3 teenagers hurt in five-vehicle collision on AYE

SINGAPORE - Three teenagers were taken to hospital after the bus they were in was involved in a five-vehicle chain collision on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Thursday (May 17).

The accident involved three buses and two lorries, the police told The Straits Times.

It occurred at around 3.40pm along the AYE, before the Alexandra Road Exit.

Three passengers aged 13 were taken conscious to the National University Hospital. ST understands they sustained minor injuries including back pains.

Videos of the aftermath posted on Facebook show the line of vehicles on the third lane, with significant damage.

The Land Transport Authority tweeted about the accident on Thursday, alerting motorists to the subsequent congestion that stretched up to exits in Clementi.

It advised motorists to avoid lanes 3 and 4.

Police investigations are ongoing.
