SINGAPORE - Three people were injured after an accident involving a ComfortDelGro taxi and a pedestrian in Geylang on Friday night (June 22).

Police said they were alerted to an accident along Lorong 23 Geylang at 10.10pm.

Three men, aged between 41 and 66, were conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the police spokesman added.

In a video posted on Facebook, the aftermath of the accident left the base of a pillar severely damaged.

The taxi, which suffered a big dent to its bonnet, had run over a kerb, with the driver still in the vehicle.

Passers-by were seen crowding around the scene, taking photos and videos of the accident.

In a statement on Saturday, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) said props have been installed at the building at 228 Sims Avenue, to ensure the structural stability of the building, as recommended by the professional engineer engaged by the building owner.

Strengthening work was also done and completed at the building at about 6.20am on Saturday, the BCA added.

The engineer assessed that there is "no imminent danger" from the damage caused from the accident, and that the adjacent buildings are not affected.

The owner of the building has been directed to ensure that the engineer recommends and submits plans for permanent rectification works for the BCA's approval, the authority added.

"As part of BCA's further directions and as a precautionary measure, the owner is required to close the affected five footway and a small area of the floors above the damaged column until permanent rectification works have been completed," it said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
