A 26-year-old Singaporean died after collapsing at a trance music festival in Jakarta on Sunday, in what the local authorities have called a drug-related case.

Indonesian media reported Monday that Chua Wen Hu was one of three who collapsed at the event called A State of Trance at Ancol Beach, Jakarta, which ran from Saturday night to the wee hours of Sunday. Mr Chua and Indonesians Isti Rahmawati, 19, and Ricky Maahir Muhammad, 18, were reported to be dead by Monday.

A State of Trance is the same music performance held in Kuala Lumpur a day before on Friday to early Saturday, during which drug overdoses left six Malaysians dead, dozens hospitalised, and 29 arrested on drug-related charges.

Among these, three Singaporeans were arrested and seven others remain in KL hospitals, Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh told The Straits Times in an update on Monday.
