Primary school years are an important part of the education journey, and designing lessons and activities for children at this age will help them best, said Education Minister Heng Swee Keat.
He stressed that these formative years should foster children's curiosity and love for learning, help them grow socio-emotionally and give them a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy.
He was speaking to 2,200 teachers at the opening of the first Primary School Education Seminar and Exhibition at Republic Polytechnic on Wednesday.
The event brings together primary schools to share and learn from each other. Since the review of primary education in 2009, schools have introduced several initiatives to improve learning for children.
Organised by the Ministry of Education, the exhibition featured practices like teaching, learning and assessment methods from 28 primary schools.
