19-year-old man arrested for committing an obscene act

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for committing obscene acts in front of three women in Telok Blangah Crescent.

Police said on Wednesday that between Nov 15 and Dec 4, three female victims aged 26, 30 and 34, reported that an unknown man had appeared outside their house.

The suspect had caught their attention by making noises and when they looked towards the main door, the suspect exposed his private part and committed an obscene act. The suspect immediately fled when the victims shouted at him.

The victims subsequently lodged reports with the police.

Officers from the Bukit Merah Neigbourhood Police Centre combed the neighbourhood and looked through closed-circuit TV footages available in the vicinity, said the police. The suspect was later identified and arrested in Bedok.

Investigations are on-going. If convicted, the suspect can be jailed up to three months and/or fined under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniel Tan said women should call the police if they spot anyone loitering suspiciously and at the same time, take note of the description of the suspect.
