SINGAPORE - About 1.5kg of heroin was seized from under the seat of a Malaysian-registered motorcycle at about 7.30pm on Monday night at the Woodlands Checkpoint, said a joint statement from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
The three bundles of controlled drugs, amounting to a street value of $155,000, were found by ICA officers in the cavities of the seat during a routine inspection.
The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old Malaysian, and the drugs were handed over to the Central Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
The amount of heroin is estimated to be able to sustain 705 abusers for about a week.
