Home Team officers were on Monday recognised for carrying out 101 successful operations, from June 2012 to July this year, at an awards ceremony graced by Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli.
The recipients of the Minister for Home Affairs Operational Excellence Award included Inspector Chan Wai Hoong, 40, a 22-year veteran with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) who led a team to expeditiously crack the high-profile Cenotaph vandalism case in April.
Also feted was Inspector Pamela Chua, 25, a two-year rookie from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), who remained unfazed during a Tanglin Halt drug raid in June, when she negotiated with an 'Ice' abuser who was under the influence.
She was lauded for her role in assessing the risk the abuser could cause harm to himself and his younger sister.
The commended operations comprised 46 from the SPF, 20 from the Singapore Civil Defence Force, 20 from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, five from the Singapore Prisons Service, nine from the CNB, and one from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
