1,000 beneficiaries from five VWOs to receive FairPrice vouchers

SINGAPORE - Beneficiaries from five voluntary welfare organisations took home free bags of groceries on Friday after FairPrice donated over $69,500 worth of vouchers to mark the supermarket's 42nd anniversary.

National Trades Union Congress secretary-general Chan Chun Sing and FairPrice chief executive Seah Kian Peng accompanied 17 beneficiaries to shop at the supermarket chain's outlet at Tanjong Pagar Plaza.

In total, 1,000 individuals and families will receive vouchers of between $50 and $200, which will be distributed by Ren Ci Nursing Home, Singapore Children's Society, Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore and SPD.

The money was raised from the ticket sales proceeds of this year's FairPrice Walks With U mass walking event, which was called off due to the passing of founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
