10-hour internet outage in Woodlands resolved on Saturday morning

SINGAPORE - A 10-hour internet network outage in Woodlands was resolved at 2.15am on Saturday.

Network operator NetLink Trust said it was caused by "damage to the fibre infrastructure caused by a contractor performing works for the Land Transport Authority (LTA) along Woodlands Avenue 2".

NetLink Trust's chief executive officer Ng Yong Hwee added: "We put in all available resources to ensure a speedy and safe recovery and are glad that we managed to restore service ahead of our original estimate.

"We are continuing to work closely with LTA and its contractors to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent damage to underground cables. We also urge other contractors to consult NetLink Trust on the necessary precautions before carrying out earthworks."
