The Workers' Party (WP) is likely to field fewer newcomers at the coming polls than in the last general election, focusing its firepower on its regular stomping grounds instead of expanding into new areas.

In the 2015 General Election, the WP had a bumper crop of 16 new faces. But this time, only a handful may be fielded, with the party unlikely to venture beyond Aljunied GRC, East Coast GRC, Marine Parade GRC and the newly created Sengkang GRC as well as Hougang SMC, party insiders said.
