SINGAPORE - The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) has released a campaign song for the upcoming General Elections.

The song, titled I Will Be The One, was written by party leader Chee Soon Juan and Mr Jufri Salim.

The political party posted a video of the song on their Facebook page on Thursday evening.

Performed by Ms Diwi Aishah Ali, Ms Suraya Akbar and members of the SDP, the song includes lyrics like "I will be the one reaching for tomorrow. I will be that voice that the rest will follow." and "everywhere I go, lightning and storm sure will follow. But the sun is always there, to shine bright for you and I".

In the upcoming General Elections, SDP intends to contest in Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Yuhua, Holland-Bukit Timah and Marsling-Yew Tee.

By 10.45pm on Thursday, the song had 312 views and 32 shares on Facebook.

It received mixed reactions on the social media site.

One comment said: "Wouldn't "We will be the one" be better than "I will be the one"? Sounds rather individualistic to me."

While another said: "Well done! Very creative. I like your song esp the Chorus. Post the lyrics so that people can learn to sing."

"Still better than this year NDP song for sure," said another.
