ANTALYA (Turkey) - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrives here on Saturday for the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit with leaders of the world's largest nations and key organisations.
The meeting takes place on Sunday and Monday.
After that, he will attend the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Manila on Wednesday and Thursday, said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Leaders at the G-20 Summit will deliberate on challenges facing the global economy. They will also discuss ways to strengthen economic resilience and promote job creation for strong, sustainable and balanced growth, the PMO said.
Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will accompany Mr Lee for the G-20 Summit, together with senior officials from the Finance and Foreign Affairs Ministries as well as the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
PM Lee and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will witness the signing of the Turkey-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by Mr Heng and Turkey's Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit.
The FTA will generate more business and investment opportunities for companies of both countries. Negotiations for the FTA began in January 2014 when Mr Erdogan, who was then Turkey's Prime Minister, visited Singapore.
Singapore is not a member of the G-20, which comprises the world's 20 largest developed and developing economies. But it is one of six countries invited to take part in the annual summit.
The G-20 economies account for two-thirds of the world population and form 85 per cent of the global economy and more than 75 per cent of world trade.
Turkey has identified three key messages for the high-level meeting in Antalya. They are: to deliver inclusive and robust global growth through collective action; to centre G-20 priorities on inclusiveness, implementation and investment; and to promote support to low-income developing countries, and small and medium enterprises.
Apec leaders' meeting in Manila
Inclusive growth will also be one of the core themes of the Apec leaders' meeting in the Philippines on Nov 18 and 19.
Mr Lee will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The leaders will discuss issues related to inclusive growth through developing integrated economies as well as building resilient and sustainable communities.
PM Lee will also have bilateral meetings with Apec leaders while in Manila.
Ahead of the Apec leaders' meeting, Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang and Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Maliki Osman will take part in the 27th Apec Ministerial Meeting in Manila on Monday and Tuesday.
PM Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee on the two visits. In his absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will be Acting Prime Minister.
