The leadership transition at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) was completed yesterday, with Mr Ng Chee Meng officially taking over from Mr Chan Chun Sing.

The handover has been widely expected since Mr Ng, who is now Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, was co-opted into the labour movement as deputy secretary-general on April 23.

In a statement, the NTUC said its central committee had unanimously elected Mr Ng to take the helm after accepting Mr Chan's resignation. Mr Chan, who is Minister for Trade and Industry following the recent Cabinet reshuffle, was with the NTUC for three years.
