The subject of Singapore's burgeoning healthcare spending and ensuring it remains sustainable dominated the debate on the Ministry of Health's (MOH) budget yesterday, as MPs asked about keeping healthcare costs affordable for people.

Responding, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said Singapore's healthcare spending has almost doubled in six years since 2010, from $11 billion to $21 billion. Government health expenditure rose 2.4 times, from $3.9 billion to $9.3 billion.
