The Straits Times understands that during a meeting with his core group of supporters, Mr Chen Show Mao told them he does not intend to contest the Workers' Party's secretary-general position.

SINGAPORE - Signs are that Workers' Party's (WP) Mr Chen Show Mao has decided not to challenge Mr Pritam Singh for the party's top post on Sunday, paving the way for Mr Singh's ascendance as WP's next secretary-general.
But this is not a foregone conclusion and may still change on the day of the party's leadership elections.
