This being the bicentennial year, I was in a reflective mood when I walked into Parliament House yesterday to cover the debate on the 2019 Budget delivered last week.
The first Parliament sitting I attended was in 1991. I tagged along with my senior colleagues to the Old Parliament House. When it ended, I was sent home without having to write anything because Parliament reports then were deemed very important and sensitive - too much so to entrust to a rookie mere weeks into the job.
