A few weeks after starting his second presidential term early in 2025, US President Donald Trump publicly humiliated Volodymyr Zelensky, his Ukrainian counterpart.
In what must surely rank as one of the most disgraceful and cringe-making episodes in modern diplomatic history, Trump and Vice-President J.D. Vance harangued Zelensky in the Oval Office before dismissing the Ukrainian on live TV as a leader who “has no cards”.
