If you read food labels religiously when shopping at the supermarket, you may be intrigued by a new proposal of US Surgeon-General Vivek Murthy. He has called for a warning label on social media platforms, stating that social media is associated with significant mental health harms for adolescents.

Such warning labels require a congressional mandate and this one would specifically remind parents and adolescents on a regular basis that social media use has not been proven safe.
