As a regular concertgoer, one highlight for me last year involved me switching on - not off - my mobile phone in the Esplanade Concert Hall mid-performance and alongside other concertgoers, playing aloud a melody downloaded earlier.
It was a magical moment as the hall lit up with smartphones and the trilling sounds of bird calls created by Chinese musical instruments, to the accompaniment of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) under the baton of Tan Dun.
