Tribute to Kyoto Animation by a lapsed anime fan

When I was in secondary school, a friend of mine insisted, without explanation, that I watch a Japanese animation (anime) series simply titled Air.

Action and adventure anime like Naruto and Bleach were popular among our classmates at the time. While those never quite managed to capture my interest, I was intrigued by the fervour of my friend's recommendation and captivated by the beautifully rendered scenery of Air's seaside town setting in the show's opening credits sequence.
