Hit by a slowing Chinese economy, a protracted trade war and a global slowdown mainly in electronics demand, Singapore may be heading towards a technical recession - two successive quarters of contraction - this year.

Already, exports have been affected, factory orders are down, and "the mood is significantly dampened", said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the sidelines of a meeting in Bangkok last month.
