Children's Day was first established in 1954 by the United Nations General Assembly. It is now celebrated almost universally, albeit on different days, for the same goals: to improve child welfare worldwide, as well as to promote and celebrate children's rights.

In Singapore, Children's Day this year takes place today, the first Friday of October.
