For decades, the gold standard of Housing Board living has been tied to proximity to the city centre, with many resale flats in prime locations commanding premium prices.

Flats in these areas are often perceived as a “sure-win” springboard to obtaining substantial capital gains. Suburban flats, in contrast, were deemed the “consolation prize” for being farther away and yielding smaller returns.
